Cyan Z-Series platforms support industry leading SONET or SDH MSPP functionality on a "blade" or module. These powerful modules fully integrate subrate SONET/SDH and Gigabit Ethernet grooming and transport with OC-192, STM-64 or software selectable 10G OTU-2 transport technologies for an easy migration to DWDM.

In most cases, the Cyan Z-Series platform with 10G SONET/SDH modules can be introduced into networks for substantially less than the cost of adding OC-192 or STM-64 to legacy MSPP platforms. In addition to supporting an easy incremental migration to DWDM, the Z-Series also supports the ability to add Ethernet service modules supporting advanced MEF services with connection oriented Ethernet transport - avoiding the cost and complexity of building and operating parallel overlay networks.

 Collapsing historically separate card functions into one highly integrated module, the Cyan Z-Series support massively scalable SONET or SDH grooming which start with 60 Gbps switching capacities and scale to several hundreds of gigabits of non-blocking STS cross-connect per system.

Working in conjunction with highly advanced connection oriented Ethernet transport modules, the SONET/SDH equipped Cyan Z-Series provide the perfect foundation to transition from TDM to packet, while extending the role of the SONET/SDH transport infrastructure which provided the benchmark in transport standards for the past decade.
